Year Two: day one

And so begins another year. The first 3 periods of the day went swell! (I didn't have any students. HSA had met the week prior, so I had a couple extra hours to get it together.) Then 4th hour rolled in. Yearbook. The class went well, but I rambled. It was my first time back in front of students. The kids seem pretty with it, and seemed to adapt to my new expectations. After a walking lunch, it was on to my first section of English 11. 5th hour is moving in to take the role of my bane. The kids seem good, funny, vocal... They will be an interesting mix. We played 2 truths and a lie and I need up having one kid rap and another show me the raccoon tail he had pinned to the back of his pants. Like I said, an interesting mix. 6th period has a good balance. There are a couple of chatty kids, but there Are also a good number of quiet, studious looking kids. But...I won't put my cart before my horse. I will let them prove themselves. 8th hour is a whole different story. I swear those kids were dead when they walked in. I made then get up 10 minutes into class and wiggle around. While none of them did, it wana worth a shot. And hey, they did all stand! When I finally made it to the office (with a set of yearbooks that were called in) my principal caught me and laughed. I must have looked frazzled.

Noteworthy moments that missed draft one and two:
1. Satchel is no longer on my roster.
2. Kwon asked me if I am married. He then basically implied I shouldn't have relationships outside of school so that I can focus all of my time on his class. He is also the second student in two years to ask me if I grew up with a lot of diversity. Both students were minorities. (interesting observation.)
3. Apparently Ben (the repeat offender I have heard a lot about) likes my class. Ha. On day 1!

Noteworthy moments that missed first and second edit:
1. Satchel is no longer on my roster. Sad.
2. Kwon asked me if I was married. He then basically asked me if I am in any sort of relationship. He added something about giving time to the class... But I just think the inappropriate behavior is beginning. Yes!
